LIGHT
Waves
- Light travels from the Sun to Earth in electromagnetic waves.
- The whole range of electromagnetic waves is called spectrum.
- The longest waves in the spectrum are the radio waves. The shortest are the gamma rays.
Strikes
- When light strikes an object, the light can be reflected, bounced off, absorbed, taken in, transmitted or passed through.
- Depending on the reaction of the object when the light strikes it, the same can be opaque, transparent or translucent.
Reflection
- All objects reflects some light. Some objects allow you to see a reflection (an image), others don't.
- Reflection can be regular or diffuse. Is regular when the rays of light hit a smooth surface and are reflected in the same angle. Is diffuse when the rays hit a uneven surface and are reflected in different angles.
Mirror
- Is a piece of glass that has a smooth, silver colored coating on one side. It can be flat or curve.
- A concave mirror has a surface that curves inward. A convex mirror has a surface that curves outward.
